A GROUP of travellers arrived in Keston on Sunday morning but left shortly after intervention from the council. It is thought they moved on to private land.
Seven caravans and 10 vehicles turned up at a site by Leaves Green.
The council intervened soon after they left on Monday a group of travellers were spotted on another site on land off Shire Lane, near the Old Hill Junction, in Orpington.
Councillor Colin Smith, Executive Councillor for Environment said: "As soon as the Council becomes aware of an incursion on to its land, it is made clear to those involved that their illegal occupation will not be tolerated.
"It is extremely unfortunate that at times, national legislation prevents Local Councils from moving as quickly as we would all prefer to see happen, and something really ought to be done by Parliament to tighten the respective laws."
The new site is private land and so is the responsibility of the landlord to deal with.
