Teenager charged for trying to grab Olympic Torch in Gravesend
A 17-year-old man has been charged after trying to grab the Olympic Torch in Gravesend yesterday (July 20).
The teenager, who is from Gravesend and cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with common assault, assaulting a police officer and a public order offence.
He will appear at Medway Youth Court today (July 21).
The incident happened at 9:55am as the torch was being carried by Polish torchbearer Anna Skora in Rochester Road.
Police officers were quick to pull the 17-year-old to the ground and Miss Skora continued to carry the torch unscathed.
