A LANDMARK Deptford development has been honoured in an awards ceremony celebrating the capital's best buildings.
The Deptford Lounge building, which includes Tidemill Academy, was named joint winner with Clapham library in the New London Awards' culture and community category.
Deptford Lounge, designed by Pollard Thomas Edwards, combines a public library with a primary school, apartments over studios and exhibition space for artists.
Lewisham Council says that the new library received 171,197 visitors from January to June this year - more than double the 82,459 for the previous year when the service was at Wavelength’s Leisure Centre.
Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock said: "This part of Lewisham is undergoing a major transformation, with fantastic new learning and leisure facilities and greatly improved public spaces.
"The complex is extremely popular with residents and we are delighted to have won this award."
