A SWARM of honeybees have descended on a shop window - just hours after demolition work took place on towers less than two miles away.
Around 500 of the bees landed on the front of KHL Print Group in Cotmandene Crescent, St Paul's Cray at around 3pm today.
Shocked passersby have been gathering outside the shop to see, but the honeybees are not thought to pose any danger to the public.
Staff believe the bees could have been dislodged by the demolition of towers in Okemore Gardens, St Mary Cray on the other side of Cray Avenue, which took place earlier today.
They have called a beekeeper to come and remove them.
The company's managing director, Mark Elkins, said: "We were working in the shop when suddenly there was this swarm of bees. It looked like there were thousands of them.
"We thought it was blossom off the trees at first.
"We're not sure whether the queen bee is there, but they must have got lost. They've clearly been disturbed somewhere.
"The company has been here 30 years and we have never seen anything like it.
"They were quite angry at first, buzzing and very animated. But they seem very settled now."
