POLICE are warning people in New Cross to close their windows when away from their properties following a spate of burglaries.
Three properties with windows open were targeted by thieves overnight on July 18.
The streets affected were Waller Road, Dennett’s Road and Bousfield Road.
A spokeswoman said: "Thieves will take advantage of insecure properties and gain entry to premises looking for easy access predominately via an open window or door."
She added: "People should ensure that windows and doors are closed and locked when they are out and they do not leave small windows open believing them to be safe."
