PATIENTS were moved and ambulances were diverted this afternoon after a loss of power at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Problems hit the Woolwich site at around 12.45pm and a spokesman said the cut lasted for 40 minutes, affecting the majority of the hospital.

He said: "We are not aware of any patients being placed at risk during this time. There was back up power during this period and patients were moved to other areas of the hospital where necessary."

Ambulances were temporarily diverted to neighbouring hospitals.

The spokesman said that A&E services were now running as normal.
