A DOG owner out on their morning walk uncovered the body of a woman at the weekend.

The gruesome find was made in Sydenham Hill Woods early yesterday (May 13).

A spokeswoman for the Met Police confirmed they had been called to the scene near Coxs Walk at 7.56am to reports of a body being found.

Ambulance staff also arrived but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Much of the woods were taped off as police carried out their investigations.

The spokeswoman said: "Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances of her death."

A post-mortem will be held in due course and no formal identification has yet been made.
