A CHARLTON community group is looking for volunteers to help transform an abandoned area into a food-growing project.
The Friends of Maryon and Maryon Wilson Parks are currently transforming the old nursery with help from a Capital Growth grant.
Chairman Tim Anderson said: “The project would be ideal for people who live in flats or who do not have their own garden or allotment.
“It is at its early stages and needs volunteers to help clear and establish the site as a growing area.
“The aim is to provide plots for members of the local community to grow their own food.”
