PARENTS of a "gentleman" mechanic are still grieving six months after his death.
Michael Bartlett's son Jon was found with a gunshot wound to the head on Chislehurst Common, off School Road, on March 31.
Seven people have been arrested in connection with the killing but no-one has been charged with the murder of the 29-year-old, who lived in Portland Road, Mottingham.
Speaking on the six-month anniversary of Jon's death, his father says he does not think they will ever come to terms with what has happened.
He said: "You cry every day and it doesn't get easier. My wife only leaves the house to go to the cemetery and the whole family are in pieces about it."
Mr Bartlett thinks the police investigation is focusing too much on his son's associations with gangsters in the Thamesmead area.
The 53-year-old said: "Where he was brought up he was bound to rub shoulders with criminals.
"But at the same time he had friends who were barristers and actors and he was the perfect son."
Jon's mother Janice, 53, said: "It just feels like your heart has been ripped out. I don't think the pain will ever go away.
"Everybody who knew him loved him and he had so many friends."
The resident of Goldcrest Close, Thamesmead, added: "Everyone called him Gentleman Jon.
"He was a funny boy and I loved everything about him."
Police want to speak to anyone who saw anything suspicious in School Lane, Chislehurst, near to the common, between 6pm and 8pm on March 31.
They are also anxious to speak to anyone who knew Jon as a friend, colleague or client of his business, JB Crash Repairs, Pembroke Road, Erith.
Anyone with information should call the police on 020 8721 4205 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
