A TRAIN was almost derailed after it hit a tree branch which had fallen across the track.
The train, which was heading towards Norwood, struck the branch just south of Anerley train station, on September 22 at around 2pm.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
A Network Rail spokesman said: "We can confirm a branch fell from a trackside tree and blocked two lines in the Anerley area.
"One train did hit the branch.
"There were some delays due to services being diverted while lines were closed to remove the branch.
"It was removed about an hour after being reported and normal services resumed.
"Engineers have been on site to assess the tree and ensure no further branches fall on the track."
