RESIDENTS are being reminded to lock their doors and windows after a spate of opportunist burglaries.
Bromley police are issuing the warning following the incidents in Chelsfield and Beckenham, which have occurred during the past two weeks.
A police spokesman says in the recent warm weather people have been more likely to leave their doors and windows open to keep their homes cool.
He said: "Many walk-in burglaries happen after an opportunist thief spots an open or unlocked window or door. Don't invite thieves into your home.
"Please remember to lock your doors and windows when you go out and, even when you are at home, please ensure they are well secured."
Residents are also reminded insurance companies may not pay out if windows and doors were not locked or double locked at the time of burglaries.
