A Conservative Party housing paper published recently is proposing to give suburban Britain a make-over.
David Cameron says, if elected, he would empower architects by giving them free reign to experiment outside typical housing designs which currently line UK streets.
The paper Renewing Suburbia: Creating Suburban Villages claims Brits are depressed by the uniform appearance of the UK's suburban estates.
Proposed changes include plans to replace and demolish disliked estates, replacing them with mixed-use developments - places where people can live, work and spend their leisure time.
West Silvertown, an uban village in Docklands, was identified as an example of good practice.
