HERDS of elephants and flocks of birds descended upon a school as pupils took part in a masked parade.
Highfield Infant and Junior Schools in Highfield Drive and South Hill Road, Shortlands, took part in the Walk on Wednesday scheme which encourages children to walk to school.
Children of all ages took part in the parade, arriving at their schools in pairs.
Talks from experts from the London Wildlife Trust on biodiversity and a quiz to test pupils' knowledge of endangered species were also part of the day.
Bromley Council's school travel plan support officer David Graham said: "The new-look scheme is designed to encourage pupils to think about their travel to and from school and, where possible, to take the healthier and more environmentally-friendly option of walking."
