Starring: Devon Aoki, Holly Valance, Sarah Carter. Directed by Corey Yuen. Rating: 1/5 - don't waste your money. Review by Tim Porter.
After seeing the trailer for DOA back in May this year, I was really looking forward to seeing this film.
Based on the worldwide selling video game of the same name, a group of female fighters take on whoever's silly enough to get in their way.
The plot is basically like Snakes On A Plane, what you see is what you get.
However, I was really disappointed with this film. It wasn't that the acting wasn't good enough, because I think Holly Valance did very well in this film. The main thing that was disappointing was the action - no blood, no breaking bones, just really basic fighting and frying.
I felt they should have got Prachya Pinkaew (director of Ong-Bak and Warrior King) to direct this film.
I say this because the action is absolutely terrible. In fact, watching wrestling is better than watching DOA.
The film is funny in parts but is still a very poor film that possibly shouldn't have been made.
Devon Aoki is way too good to be in this film, this is a low for her career and everyone else involved.
