SHAMED former council leader Kenneth Leadbeater has reconsidered his plans to attend the opening of Dartford's Princes Park Stadium.
Leadbeater, who was sentenced for child porn offences at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, had said he was looking forward to attending the event.
Speaking outside the court, he told the assembled media that as he had played a major role in getting the £6.5m stadium for the town, he would be there for its opening on November 11 .
But in a statement released this morning, current Dartford Council leader Councillor Jeremy Kite has said Leadbeater will not be present.
He said: "The opening of Princes Park is a family event to celebrate the club and its supporters and there are no plans for Mr Leadbeater to play any part in the proceedings.
"I have read what he said outside court on Friday but I understand that he reconsidered the matter over the weekend and will not now attend."
