A CHARITY has received funding to keep elderly people fit and healthy.
Age Concern Bromley has been given £45,000 as part of the Mayor of London's Sports Legacy Fund to continue its Fit for Life programme, which helps people aged 50 and over do physical activity.
The scheme was one of 15 selected as it was the only proposal that included older residents.
Director of Age Concern Bromley Maureen Falloon said: “We are delighted with the news of the funding. We have successfully encouraged older people to overcome the barriers they often face to leading a healthy lifestyle.”
Similarly aged peer health mentors are now being recruited to help encourage and support participants.
