A high-profile property investor's interest in buying a Premier League football team has caused shares in the club to jump-up 10 per cent.
Jersey-based firm, The Belgravia Group, has admitted it is considering putting an offer in for Newcastle United.
Belgravia's current investments range from property to derivatives and it manages £1bn for its investors.
The investment group said: "We are examining the potential opportunity of acquiring Newcastle United"
Talks are believed to still be in the early stages.
Belgravia are thought to already be planning to put aside cash to buy new players.
