WHAT IS YOUR TYPICAL DAY LIKE? A typical day starts with checking my emails and returning calls to the 17 senior partners and branch managers from the 30 branches and departments we have throughout south east London and Kent. Each branch has specific marketing requirements, so there are numerous plans to action for each office.

Actions include updating website content, writing and distributing press releases, updating advertising templates or implementing a poster campaign.

I also work on larger group projects such as moving forward with implementing a high-tech website, which we are hoping to launch soon and conducting our annual media review and budgets.

Marketing managers need the classic skills of market research, new product development, pricing, communication and negotiation. They must also have an understanding of financial analysis to see the impact of proposed marketing strategies. Thinking outside of the box is important in order to develop new revenue streams and establish the best route to a target audience.

WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO BECOME A MARKETING MANAGER? I knew I couldn't work in finance or accounting, as these types of jobs focus more on numbers - I am more interested in people and discovering what makes them tick, which made me think of entering the marketing profession. I enjoy challenges and negotiating in a competitive environment, while at the same time being creative and innovative.

WHERE DO YOU WANT TO GO FROM HERE? I have recently joined Robinson & Jackson and I am enjoying working with the teams and implementing initiatives which will really make a difference.
