ELTHAM Palace is inviting people to learn about the glamorous 1930s period.

Visitors can meet costumed characters as they prepare for one of Stephen and Virginia Courtauld’s legendary parties.

They will also hear stories from the gossiping maids about the lady of the house and her attention to detail when it came to party preparation.

The event takes place tomorrow (July 10) from 11am to 5pm at the Palace, off Court Road, Eltham.

Events manager for English Heritage’s Eltham Palace, Lucy Hutchings, said: “Eltham Palace truly was ‘the’ place to be seen at during the 1930s, a time when Art Deco glamour was at its peak.

“Visitors can not only experience how the Courtaulds planned their own exclusive parties, but the Palace can now be hired out for hospitality bookings, giving people in the 21st century the chance to party in style.”

Tickets cost £9.30 for adults, £8.40 for concessions, £5.60 for children and a family ticket is £24.20.
