A RESIDENTS' group is celebrating the delivery of a refreshments unit at a park hit by vandalism.
The structure is a temporary solution to meet public demand for a cafe in Avery Hill Park after vandalism and arson attacks last September.
Greenwich Council intends to rebuild the cafe as part of its long-term strategic plan for the park in Bexley Road, Eltham.
Friends of Avery Hill Park chairman Steve Hull said: "Without an existing cafe it's been like a skeleton without a heart."
Cabinet member for sport, culture and the Olympics Councillor John Fahy added: "We are grateful for the support the group has given in the development of our plans for a temporary replacement building.
"It's great news we have a cafe in the park again. I'm very impressed the group has carried out summer actvities."
The group organised adventure days for 20 children every Thursday at the park during July and last month.
