RESIDENTS are breathing some of the worst air in the borough.
Swanley town centre has been identified as an area where air pollution is exceeding Government targets.
Following consultations with residents in June and July, Sevenoaks District Council declared Swanley town centre including the High Street, the east part of London Road and Bartholomew Way, air quality management areas.
It followed a review last year which found nitrogen dioxide levels were exceeding these targets.
The next step is to draw up an action plan to improve air quality, which will implemented by March 2008.
Two existing areas have also been extended, one covering 33 properties in Button Street, Swanley.
