RESIDENTS have rolled up their sleeves to clear up a historic garden.
Dartford Council organised a clean-up of St Edmund's Pleasance, West View Road, Dartford.
St Edmund's Pleasance is a public garden which is named after the Chapel of St Edmund which once stood there.
Several memorials are in the garden, including one commemorating three Kentish protestant martyrs who were burned at the stake in 1555.
As well as litter picking, the deep clean team cleared shrubberies and removed graffiti in the garden yesterday.
Portfolio holder for deep clean Councillor Alex Dunn says the clean-up made a real difference.
She said: "The deep clean team make an immediate impact wherever they go.
"With the help of residents they can make a lasting impression on the borough's streets and open spaces."
