A MINISTER has passed the baton to his successor.
Wilf Stambury is retiring and moving to Suffolk after spending six-and-a-half years as the pastor at Bromley Common Baptist Church, Gravel Road, Bromley Common.
He is being succeeded by David Wood, a 32-year-old former police sergeant who left the force to take on the role.
The father-of-two will study theology at Spurgeons College, Upper Norwood, for three years as well as leading the congregation of about 30 people.
Deacon Tony Edgell said: "Wilf and his wife will be greatly missed and we have all been invited to visit, but not all at the same time."
Mr Wood will be inducted into the church at 3pm on September 23.
