FREEZING temperatures, sharks and sleep deprivation were part of a 15,000-mile voyage to raise cash for the disabled.
Novice sailor Noel Everest, of Elmstead Avenue, Chislehurst, set out on his expedition with 14 other crew members on April 12 from northern China.
The fleet manager for Lewisham Council was a member of one of 10 teams from countries including Australia, taking part in the Clipper Ventures' Round the World Yacht Race.
Mr Everest's leg of the journey saw him travel on a 68ft yacht to Jamaica, via Canada and Mexico, in 67 days.
The 53-year-old raised £4,500 for the Philip Green Memorial Trust - a charity raising cash for disabled youngsters.
Father-of-one Mr Everest said: "It was an amazing experience but I was glad to see land after all that time at sea."
