PLANS by Bexley College to move to Erith’s town centre are gathering pace as land contracts for the site in Walnut Tree Road have been finalised with Bexley Council.
The college, currently located in Tower Road, Erith, is also in the process of finalising negotiations with a shortlisted group of possible contractors.
It hopes to submit a planning application for the new building next month, ready for construction to begin in January next year.
London Mayor Boris Johnson has been one of the first to view the college’s new location when he met with representatives from the college and Bexley Council.
If everything goes to plan, the college will open in September 2013 and will be the first completed development in the Erith Western Gateway regeneration area.
