A team of community nurses from Demelza James Hospice Care at Home Service will be taking part in the charity's annual fun run at Penshurst Place this Sunday.
They have chosen to run the 10km distance for the challenge.
Helen Tickner, one of the runners, said: "We are all new to running so this is a real challenge. Some of us are keen to take part in the London Marathon next year so we thought we'd start with the Demelza Run and see how we get on."
The Demelza Run offers a 10km and 5km route, both of which follow a scenic path around the stunning estate of Penshurst Place.
As well as the challenge of the run there are plenty of other things for the family to do, including an African music workshop for children, pottery and painting, plus formal gardens, house and venture playground to explore.
Demelza is a charity providing hospice care for 450 children with life-limiting illnesses and their families across East Sussex, Kent and south London through residential hospice care and hospice-at-home care.
With no current government funding, it relies on the support of local individuals and companies to raise the £3.5m needed each year to continue offering these vital services to families.
Entry to the event is £15 per adult and £5 for children under 16.
Entry forms and further information are available by calling 01795 845204 or by looking on the website
