THINGS are returning to normal in Eltham High Street after police carried out a controlled explosion on an abandoned briefcase.
The case, which was left in a branch of Barclays Bank, was found to be harmless - only containing a customer's private papers.
Cordons put up after the alarm was raised around 11am have been taken down and shoppers and workers are being allowed back into the area.
Police are photographing the scene and are now carrying out an investigation.
