BENEFIT FRAUD: A 33-year-old man has pleaded guilty to defrauding Bromley Council of housing benefits totalling more than £5,000 during a 10-month period. Adrian Weekes, formerly of Sibley Court, Beckenham Grove, was sentenced to a community punishment order and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation. He appeared at Bromley Magistrates' Court last week. The council is taking action to recover the money.
GUILTY PLEA: Pauline Clifford, aged 38, of Yew Tree Road, Beckenham, pleaded guilty to five charges of defrauding Bromley Council of council tax benefits totalling more than £750 over the course of a year. Clifford was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £250 costs at the hearing at Bromley Magistrates' Court on August 16.
