A BROMLEY police officer tried to take the rap for her partner when he was caught speeding, a court heard today.

PC Anna Glynn, 29, a former member of the Mottingham and Chislehurst North Safer Neighbourhood Team, is on trial accused of conspiring to pervert the course of justice with her boyfriend Lee Wilton, 30.

A jury heard Glynn called Bedfordshire Police Central Ticketing Office falsely claiming she was driving the BMW caught on camera breaking the speed limit so her boyfriend wouldn’t get points on his licence.

Following the penalty issued in April last year, the office told Glynn the speed camera photo showed the vehicle was being driven by what looked like a man with short hair.

Southwark Crown Court was played a recording of a phone conversation between the couple, during which Wilton asked Glynn to take the blame.

He was heard saying: “I can't have these points. Can't you cut your hair short? It looks better short anyway. I'm not kidding, get it done.”

Glynn, who has been put on restricted duties, admitted she had discussed falsely claiming responsibility but denied her behaviour perverted the course of justice.

The pair deny the charges.
