A FOUR-YEAR-OLD was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation after escaping a fire.

The girl got out of the five-bedroom maisonette in Minden Road, Anerley, with a woman before the fire brigade arrived at about 11.30pm on August 28.

They were both suffering from the effects of smoke but only the girl needed to be taken to Mayday Hospital, Croydon, as the woman was treated at the scene.

About 20 firefighters from Beckenham, Forest Hill and Woodside fire stations attended the blaze which damaged about half of the building.
