THE sweet soul sounds of Motown are coming to a police social club next week. An evening of music, dubbed the Motown Extravaganza, features a live set by top soul singer David-Lee Andrews. California-based David is currently touring with Ray Lewis, one of the original Drifters.
The event is being held in the pleasant surroundings of The Warren - the Met Police club in Hayes.
It is organised by Orpington mother-of-three Angela Chandler, a salsa dance teacher and avid Motown fan.
She says: "Motown music has always been my first love. It has a feel-good factor and people just can't help dancing when they hear it."
The evening also features DJ Warren playing 70s classic soul, reggae, ska and northern soul.
Motown Extravaganza, September 8. The Warren, Croydon Road, Hayes, 8pm, tickets £15. For more information, call 01689 818795 or 07905 714355.
