FIRE stations are turning green with new electricity contracts.
Stations in Beckenham, Bromley, Orpington and Biggin Hill will be powered by electricity from environmentally-friendly sources from November 1.
Their electricity will be created through wind and water power.
The three-year scheme is to help reduce pollution and improve the environment.
London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority chairman Val Shawcross said: "Energy issues are a key priority for the authority and these contracts show our ongoing commitment to help combat climate change."
"By making sure our electricity supplies come from environmentally-friendly sources, we will continue to reduce our carbon emissions in line with the mayor's policy for London."
NPower will supply electricity to the 112 fire stations across London while Scottish and Southern Energy will supply head office buildings.
