PRIVATE landlords can claim up to £1,500 for energy-saving improvements in their tenants' homes.
The deduction against their profits from income tax payments can be used to pay for insulating lofts, walls, hot water systems and draught proofing.
Landlords should check their tax return form or contact their nearest tax office for more information on how to claim the allowance.
A Bromley Council spokesman said: "We are committed to improving the energy efficiency of the private rented sector.
"The improvements can help landlords meet their legal requirements, while supporting their reputation as someone who takes the quality of their properties seriously and delivers a professional service for tenants."
Energy improvement works need to be completed by April 5, 2009.
