PONDS and all the plants and wildlife which depend on them have suffered in this summer's heatwave, according to a group of volunteers.
Lesnes Abbey Conservation Volunteers (LACV) will be carrying out maintenance work on the pond in Abbey Wood on September 3, September 17 and October 1.
They will also be sharing their knowledge of the invertebrates, amphibians, bats and other wildlife attracted to water areas as well as plant life.
Visitors can learn more about how to care for and enhance water areas to help and encourage wildlife.
LACV will provide drinks and all the equipment needed for the maintenance work, but people should bring a packed lunch and wear suitable clothes including wellingtons.
Volunteers can meet LACV members at the information centre near the abbey ruins off Abbey Road, Belvedere, at noon.
