NEIGHBOURS are proud to show off their street after a cleaning team visited.
Before the My Street Makeover team from Lewisham Council arrived in Elmer Road, Catford, dumped cars lined the pavements and graffiti covered walls.
But after five hours of work by 15 officers from the council's transport and environmental department, the street was restored.
Hedges were trimmed, dumped cars were towed and graffiti was removed.
Lisa Carney, 41, who has lived in the street for the past 18 months, was delighted.
The mother-of-two said: "We were having a lot of problems with abandoned vehicles.
"The results are really good and the street looks better than ever."
As part of the pilot scheme the team is expected to visit 10 more of the borough's unkempt streets, including Torridon Road, Catford, on August 29 and 30.
