PRIMARY school children and their teachers enjoyed a visit to a Synagogue to celebrate religious education month.
Around 60 pupils and staff from schools across Lewisham attended Catford and Bromley Synagogue, in Crantock Road, Catford.
Reverend Doctor Ze’ev Amit gave a tour of the religious building and then the visitors got to try food from Jewish festivals.
Matzah, an unleavened bread eaten during passover, and a cheesecake from the harvest festival Shavuot, were just some of the foods on offer.
The 10-year-old youngsters also found out about the different traditions involved in celebrating a Jewish wedding, Sabbath day, Passover as well as an insight into the prayers and practices which are part of Jewish life.
Board member of the synagogue, Neil Abrahams, said: “We thought it was a very valuable experience.
“We also think it’s very useful that we should exchange each others religious practices.”
