HIGHWAYS bosses hope emergency roadworks between J3 and J1 on the M20 will be completed before tomorrow morning's rush hour.
The work, which is on the London-bound carriageway, resulted in a rush-hour logjam earlier today as three lanes of traffic was diverted into a single lane.
A Highway's Agency spokesman says a section of the road "broke away" and rose up six to seven inches inches - making it dangerous for drivers.
This was probably caused by wear and tear. Thousands of HGVs use the motorway to get to and from the Channel ports each week.
The agency is currently reporting that now the traffic has eased, delays are down to 10 minutes.
It hopes the roadworks will be completed by 5.30am tomorrow.
