NEW safety precautions are being implemented following two fires at a refuse and recycling centre.
The tip in Waldo Road, Bromley, was closed after the fires, which occurred in May and June.
Following the second fire, which may have been due to a barbecue which had not been fully extinguished, the tip reopened again fully last month.
The new precautions mean those entering the site are now being checked for flammable or hazardous waste.
Ignitable fluids, such as white spirit, have been banned.
Other fire hazards such as coals and used barbeques have also been banned under the new regulations.
The site, which is run by Bromley Council, is now staying closed to traders on Saturdays and Sundays to prevent its overuse.
Traders are now also being asked to wear high visibility jackets and a hard hat as well as suitable footwear when they are disposing of waste at the site.
