SPEAKER Eleri Price told of her adventures trekking in Brazil and raising £7,000.
For 15 years she had been involved in the McMillan Nursing organisation.
When she retired from nursing she decided to raise money for their hospice.
On the first day of the 100km trek, 59 people started walking early in the morning carrying a heavy rucksack and two litres of water.
They walked eight miles a day, slept in tents, ate mostly vegetables and enjoyed aromatherapy massages in the evenings.
When asked why she did this exhausting exercise she said it brought her closer to her daughter who had died of breast cancer.
The group meets on the third Tuesday of each month at Chelsfied Village Hall, Bucks Cross Road, Chelsfield.
