CATH Rhodes, community pharmacist from the Bexley Care Trust, gave a talk on aspects of diabetes.
Diabetes is a modern epidemic and last year there were two million people diagnosed and a possible one million undiagnosed with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes.
There are 6,000 people with diabetes in Bexley alone.
People who have Type 2 have probably had it for between 9 or 12 years before being diagnosed.
Members were given useful advice on managing this complaint and care which Bexley may be able to provide.
It was an excellent talk and there were many questions.
Bexley group chairman Helene Brenchley-King thanked Cath for giving the group so much new information on diabetes.
The Diabetes UK Bexley Support Group offers support, information and advice to people affected by diabetes, those with the condition and those who care for them, through monthly newsletters and meetings, when speakers are invited to talk to the group and answer questions on all aspects of relative healthcare.
Meetings are held on the third Friday of each month, excluding August, at the United Reformed Church, Geddes Place, Bexleyheath, at 7.30pm.
