A CAMPAIGNER fighting to save a derelict pub from demolition is planning a protest.
Minty Challis has been staying inside the Green Man Pub, Bromley Road, Catford, for a-week-and-a-half and faces eviction on Friday.
But she has invited hundreds of people down to fight off the bailiffs.
Miss Callis also arranged a public meeting outside the pub on Saturday to tell people about the demolition.
She is fighting to retain the pub for community use.
It closed about two years ago as it was no longer commercially viable.
A demolition notice was put up outside the pub in May but Miss Challis feels not enough people in the area were notified.
Lewisham Council confirmed 255 letters were sent out to residents from May 9 to the beginning of June, of which 51 people objected to the proposals.
Developer Renewal Beckenham Limited has applied for planning permission to knock down the pub to make way for four and five-storey flats with 45 parking spaces.
The planning committee will make its decision at the end of August.
And the council says the consultation period is still ongoing and residents can still have their say.
Miss Challis is also calling on anyone who supports her plan to meet outside the pub at 7pm tomorrow.
The 40-year-old said: "We will campaign on the roof of the building if we need to. Why should another historic building be demolished?
"I don't think affordable housing is the answer, who can afford it? It just cuts out two-thirds of the population around here."
Miss Challis, who is a member of the Anti Child Abuse Liberation Front, said: "All the local memories will be gone. People have not had a say on this demolition.
"People think we are uneducated and don't want to know about these sort of things.
"It's their way of manipulating the peasants like they always have."
She added: "We've already lost Catford Cinema. Why can't we turn the pub into an old age pensioners' centre for tea dances or a place for local children to go?"
A Beckenham Renewal Ltd spokesman said: "The proposals have been designed in consultation with the council and respond to the regeneration objectives for Lewisham."
