AUCTION: Erith and Thamesmead MP John Austin was auctioneer at a fundraiser at the Spice Master restaurant in Nuxley Road, Belvedere, in aid of the Bexley Moorings, a befriending project for vulnerable young people. Signed prints from Alan Shearer and Michael Schumacher helped raise £867.
ROADWORKS: Traffic is still disrupted by road resurfacing work at the A2 flyover in Bourne Road, Bexley. There is a contraflow in operation on the bridge, leading to tailbacks in each direction. The work began on August 7 and is expected to last six weeks.
MAST BATTLE: Residents face a fourth battle to stop a phone mast in their road. Another application has been made to put a 32ft mast with three antennas, a dish and four equipment cabinets in Lakeside Close in Bexley, next to the A2 and Danson Park.
CASH BOOST: The 1st East Wickham Scouts have been given £500 from the BT Community Champions scheme thanks to their assistant Scout leader and BT employee Mick Fenton. The cash will be used on camping equipment.
TRUST MEETING: Bexley Care Trust, which has just finished a public consultation on cuts in its services, holds its general meeting on September 12 in the Great Hall at Hall Place, Bourne Road, Bexley, from 1pm to 2.30pm.
