AN INTERNET centre which was facing an uncertain future has been given a £46,000 funding boost.
Silwood Cybercentre is run by the London and Quadrant Housing Trust and was set up four years ago.
The centre, which has already offered accredited computer training to 1,500 residents, was facing closure after funding dried up in April.
But now the £46,000 grant has been approved by Urban Renaissance in Lewisham - a three-year funding project to raise the borough's profile.
The centre is based in the Silwood housing estate, which spans across Deptford in Lewisham and Rotherhithe, Southwark.
Now, the funding boost will ensure the centre's future for the next year.
Sonia Meggie, London and Quadrant's neighbourhood investment co-ordinator, said: "The centre can continue to deliver training which makes a genuine difference to the lives of people in Lewisham."
