A NEW primary care trust (PCT) has appointed a chief executive.
The West Kent PCT, will incorporate South West Kent, Maidstone Weald and Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley Primary Care trusts.
Steve Phoenix, from East Sussex, has worked for the NHS for 27 years starting out as a HR specialist, but his career has spanned many departments including strategy, planning and performance roles at board level.
Since early 2002 Mr Phoenix, 48, has been chief executive of Adur, Aran and Worthing PCT, he said: "Of all the jobs I've done in the NHS, being chief executive has been the most exciting.
"I'm really looking forward to coming to west Kent and getting to know the area and its people."
The PCT will have a budget of more than £716m a year and will employ 2,300 staff when it comes into being on October 1.
