Sylvia Turner's long wait to have a water meter installed is finally over BR5083
A COUPLE'S six-month battle to get a water meter fitted is over - thanks to News Shopper.
So desperate were Sylvia and Jack Turner, of Petten Grove, Orpington, to prove Thames Water had not fitted a meter as asked, they offered the firm £5 to show them where it was.
The company was adamant it had fitted the meter even though the couple, who are 71 and 76 respectively, told it no workmen had visited them.
After News Shopper featured the couple's plight, Thames Water visited them yesterday and installed the metre - six months after first asked.
