VOLUNTEERS will benefit from improved training thanks to a lottery grant of £10,000.
Greenwich Volunteers' Centre was given the cash by the Lottery's Awards for All scheme after bidding for a share of more than £600,000 in May.
The national scheme has given grants of between £300 and £10,000 to community and voluntary groups for the past eight years.
The charity, which provides volunteers to more than 100 charities across the borough, will use the money to train 20 volunteers to work in its Trafalgar Road centre.
The cash will fund extra training in office skills, customer service and health and safety.
Centre assistant director Michelle White said: "Our impoved training package will enable volunteers to increase their skills which they can use everywhere."
The centre will recruit the first 10 volunteers to receive the new training in November.
