AN ENVIRONMENTAL trust which runs a farm on the Welling borders has opened an environmental studies area.
The project at Woodlands Farm in Shooters Hill has taken just over 12 months to create and cost £30,000.
It has an purpose-built dipping pond with a wheelchair jetty, a mini-beast area, a butterfly bank, a hedgerow area and a green energy system.
The studies area will provide hands-on activities for schools and community groups.
Nets, microscopes and identification charts are also available to help children study wildlife.
The farm trust hopes to encourage schools in Bexley and Greenwich to make use of the area.
The project was a collaboration between charitable and commercial organisations, trust volunteers and community groups.
First to try it out were children from Slade Green Junior School, Slade Green Road, Slade Green, and Conway Primary School, Gallosson Road,Woolwich.
