A BUILDER has received an award from the FA in recognition of his football coaching.

Michael Spedding, of Warner Road, Bromley, has been coaching Wickham Wanderers for 11 years.

The 44-year-old received the outstanding contribution to football award from the FA.

This is given to people who have been involved in the sport for 10 years or more.

Mr Spedding currently coaches the under-18s' team, which includes his 17-year-old son Oliver.

Mr Spedding said: "It was lovely. I am very proud.

"Because it is all voluntary and I don't get paid for it, it was fantastic to receive this recognition."
