A PETITION has been launched to save the Maryon Wilson Park animal care centre from closure.
If sponsorship for the care centre in Charlton can not be found it will be forced to close, saving Greenwich Council £43,000 a year.
The petition which was set up on January 17 has 227 signatures with many messages of support.
Matt Fricker wrote: “Visiting the animals in Maryon Wilson Park was one of the greatest privileges of my childhood and a great pillar of my early years education.
“It would be a travesty for it to close.”
More than 1,100 people have also joined a Facebook group in support of the centre.
