THE borough now has the most up-to-date CCTV control room in London.
Bromley Council has spent £310,000 upgrading the system at the Civic Centre, Stockwell Close, Bromley, where footage from 160 fixed cameras and the borough's mobile CCTV units are monitored.
It is being officially launched tomorrow by the executive councillor for public protection and safety Councillor George Taylor and the officer in charge of safer neighbourhoods Chief Inspector Marshall Kent.
Chief Insp Kent said: "Bromley has the best and most advanced CCTV scheme in London.
"The improvements will enable better images to support identification of offenders and provide the best evidence to the courts."
The money for the upgrade, which took several months to complete, came from the council's budget.
